McKenzie's Wrestling: Freestyle and Folkstyle

McKenzie began her wrestling journey at the age of 7 with Gloucester Youth Wrestling under the training of Coach Anthony Quintero and Coach Ricky Pierce. Great coaching and hard work led her to numerous titles and place winnings against boys at the local, state, and regional levels
As an 8th grader she began wrestling against other female wrestlers trying to establish the wrestling base needed for college. Joining Virginia Womens Wrestling has allowed McKenzie the opportunity to travel and train with other Virginia female werstlers. She is a War of the Roses King of Queens Champion, a War of the Roses East Coast Champion, and recently took 1st place at the USA Girls Folkstyle National Wrestling Championship in Oklahoma City, OKlahoma becoming both a National Champion and All American. At the War of the Roses Grand Nationals Finals in Ann Arbor, Michigan, McKenzie took 1st in Freestyle and Folkstyle, becoming a 2 time National Champion in Folkstyle. McKenzie is the 1st Schoolgirl (128lb)in Virginia to hold the National Champion title. Her hardwork, dedication and determination found her undefeated against females that year, while maintaining a 4.0 GPA!
As a Freshman, McKenzie earned a starting spot on her High School team and stayed on the Honor Roll. On the Women's circuit she placed at tournaments in Texas, New York, Oklahoma and earning All American titles while qualifying to compete at Freestyle Nationals in Fargo, ND. In Fargo, McKenzie placed in both the Juniors and Cadets divisions earning 2 additional All American titles, making her a 5x All American.
For her Sophomore year, McKenzie has continued working hard and gaining experience in the sport she loves. She represented her school well, placing 3rd the 5A Pen-South Conference. In addition, McKenzie has remained vigilant about her studies which led to her being inducted into the National Honor Society. With the women's season approaching, she in the looking forward to continuing to represent her school, community, and state. Her goal is to persue her wrestling career all the way through college.
